About WalkACK

Most fitness apps ask you to change your life — a plan to follow, a class to attend, a subscription to justify. Most people do not, and the app gets deleted in week three.

Walking is the exception. Nearly everyone already does it, and nobody needs to be taught how. So WalkACK does not try to change what you do; it attaches a reward to the thing you were going to do anyway, then gets out of the way. No plan, no coach, nothing to press — points arrive as your steps sync.

Worth being plain about, because "walk and earn" apps have earned some suspicion:

• Points are funded by advertising and by the margin on the rewards catalogue. That is the whole business model — no subscription, and nothing to buy to get started.
• Each day has a ceiling set by your level, so the app rewards a daily habit rather than one enormous walk. Levels rise as you keep hitting your goal, and fall if you stop.
• Points are not money. They cannot be withdrawn or transferred, and they are spent in the WalkACK rewards store and nowhere else.

If you were looking for an app that pays cash, WalkACK is not it — and we would rather say so here than have you find out after installing.

Reading someone's step count is a privilege. These are commitments we hold ourselves to, not ones the law forced on us:

• We read your step count and nothing else from Apple Health or Health Connect.
• We never write anything back into either.
• Your health data is never used to target advertising, never shared with our ad partner, and never sold.
• We do not track your location. WalkACK does not use GPS.
